Support the Duluth Transportation Commission

We're on the verge of a breakthrough for safer and more accessible Duluth streets!

After years of persistent advocacy, a Transportation Commission for Duluth is finally within reach. This commission would transform how our city plans streets—helping to ensure they work for everyone whether you walk, bike, drive, or use transit.

But we're not across the finish line yet. The vote was tabled at the July 21st meeting to address edits from additional city staff and to consider reducing the number of commissions. The new likely vote date is August 25th, and it's still important to show your councilors how important this is!

⏰ New Vote Date: Monday, August 25th. Get details and timeline at the link above.

  • • Year-round maintenance and snow clearing
  • • Streets designed to encourage slower speeds
Biking in Duluth

Biking

Why It's Important

Biking offers Duluthians an affordable, healthy, and sustainable way to get around our city. When more people choose to bike, we see less traffic congestion, cleaner air, healthier residents, and a stronger local economy - all while maintaining Duluth's reputation as an outdoor recreation destination.

What We Advocate For

  • • Ubiquitous protected bike infrastructure
  • • Connected network of multi-use trails and quiet streets
  • • Year-round maintenance of bike infrastructure
  • • Safe and modern intersection designs
Public Transit in Duluth

Public Transit

Why It's Important

A strong transit system is essential for an equitable city. Good transit ensures everyone can access jobs, services, and opportunities regardless of age, ability, or income. It reduces household transportation costs while helping create a more sustainable Duluth.

What We Advocate For

  • • Frequent, reliable service seven days a week
  • • Better bus stops, with better connections to their surrounding
  • • Transit priority at intersections and on key routes
  • • Prioritized snow clearing of bus stops and related infrastructure
Walkable Development in Duluth

Responsible Land Use

Why It's Important

How we use land shapes everything about our city - from housing costs to tax revenue to transportation choices. Smart, compact development creates vibrant neighborhoods that cost less to maintain, support local businesses, and give residents more housing and transportation options.

What We Advocate For

  • • Zoning that encourages mixed-use development and enables more housing
  • • Green infrastructure that manages water and adds beauty
  • • Streets and spaces designed for people first
  • • Development that supports walking, biking and transit
